Our initiative, “Mfasha Kwifasha” (Help Me Help Myself), is making waves in the Nyanza District, where young leaders transform their communities through economic empowerment.

In Nyanza District, we witness the incredible impact of youth-led projects designed to create jobs, foster entrepreneurship, and support sustainable economic development.

Through our Mfasha Kwifasha project, we provide young people with the skills, resources, and mentorship they need to become community leaders. From launching small businesses to leading cooperative ventures, these young entrepreneurs are building their futures and contributing to their district’s economic fabric.

Economic Growth Through Youth Leadership

Nyanza District, like many rural areas in Rwanda, has a rich history and culture but faces economic challenges. We are creating solutions that address these challenges head-on by empowering the youth to lead. Our initiatives focus on:

• Skills Development: Offering vocational training in fields like agriculture, carpentry, and more, allowing young people to gain practical skills that are in high demand.
• Access to Resources: We connect young entrepreneurs with microloans and business support services, enabling them to start or expand their businesses.
• Community Leadership: Encouraging youth to take on leadership roles in their communities, advocating for sustainable development and inclusive economic growth.

Investing in the youth creates jobs, fosters entrepreneurship, and ensures that economic growth is inclusive and sustainable. These empowered young leaders are already making an impact, contributing to job creation, reducing poverty, and driving innovation.

Project Highlights

The “Mfasha Kwifasha” project continues to deliver a series of targeted activities to achieve its goals:

• Training Workshops: Participants gain valuable knowledge through workshops on District Development Strategies (DDS), NST1, and Vision 2050, as well as the responsibilities of young leaders.
• Self-Reliance Workshops: These workshops equip young people with the skills and mindset to become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
• Advocacy for Problem Identification: Empowered to advocate for issues affecting youth and citizens, participants are gaining the confidence to address challenges and create positive change.
• Community Engagement Activities: Extensive outreach fosters a sense of unity and collaboration between young leaders and community members.
• Youth Forum and Engagement: From football tournaments to comedy, dance, and singing competitions, the project fosters community and camaraderie among participants.

The Enduring Impact

The project’s success is evident in the positive outcomes achieved:

• Increased Knowledge: Youth participants clearly understood how planning processes incorporate citizen participation.
• Empowered Leaders: Participants are now aware of their roles and responsibilities, organizing youth council meetings and general assemblies with newfound confidence.
• Active Participation: Youth actively contribute to citizen assemblies, bringing their voices and perspectives to the table.
• Building Unity: The project fostered a spirit of cooperation and unity among young people through engaging activities.
