Rwanda Organization for Development Initiatives (RODI Rwanda) is thrilled to share ongoing progress on our impactful project, “Engaging Youth in Community Decision-Making Processes and Exploring Opportunities in Nyanza District.” This initiative aims to empower young leaders and women, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to actively participate in shaping their communities.
Investing in the Future

We believe that youth are essential agents of change. By fostering their participation in decision-making processes, we can build a more vibrant and inclusive future for Nyanza District. This project targets 60 young leaders, including members of the National Youth Council (NYC), Youth Volunteers, Disability Representatives, and Cooperative or Group Saving Representatives, specifically in the Kigoma and Mukingo Sectors of Nyanza District.
Building Confidence and Skills

The project continues to deliver a series of targeted activities to achieve its goals:
- Training Workshops: Participants gain valuable knowledge through workshops on District Development Strategies (DDS), NST1, and Vision 2050, as well as the responsibilities of young leaders.
- Self-Reliance Workshops: These workshops equip young people with the skills and mindset to become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
- Advocacy for problem identified: Empowered to advocate for issues affecting youth and citizens, participants are gaining the confidence to address challenges and create positive change.
- Community Engagement Activities: Extensive outreach fosters a sense of unity and collaboration between young leaders and community members.
- Youth Forum and Engagement: From football tournaments to comedy, dance, and singing competitions, the project fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among participants.
Measurable Outcomes

The project’s success is evident in the positive outcomes still ongoing achieved:
- Increased Knowledge: Youth participants clearly understood how planning processes incorporate citizen participation.
- Empowered Leaders: Participants are now aware of their roles and responsibilities, organizing youth council meetings and general assemblies with newfound confidence.
- Active Participation: Youth actively contribute to citizen assemblies, bringing their voices and perspectives to the table.
- Building Unity: The project fostered a spirit of cooperation and unity among young people through engaging activities.
We are excited to see the project’s continued impact as it progresses in the Kigoma and Mukingo Sectors. Stay tuned for further updates on the positive outcomes achieved by these empowered young leaders!
